“HIGHER AND HIGHER”

THOUGHTS TO PONDER
Recently, I was traveling out in Colorado Springs, CO and I couldn’t help but to notice the sound of an airplane throughout most of the day. So, upon looking up, I noticed something I hadn’t seen before. There was an airplane circling up in the sky that looked like it was towing a glider plane right behind it of about the same size.
I couldn’t help but to reflect upon my reason for being out in Colorado. For almost a year now, I have been engaging in an intentional season of training and spiritual formation to become what is called a “spiritual director”. Spiritual directors are spiritual guides, if-you-will, Christ followers filled with the Holy Spirit that engage in Holy listening with another person, inviting them to see, hear, and experience the Power of God, the Love of Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit’s leading within their own lives.
Much like that airplane that was towing the glider behind it, I was reminded that we ALL need spiritual guides in our lives. We need other Christians who invite us to grow closer and closer to the Lord, ascending higher and higher, embracing and living into the heavenly realms of God’s power, love, and leading.
FOR FURTHER REFLECTION
How about you? As God has called you to lead and love on the persons entrusted unto your care, do you have someone in your own life who invites you to grow in your own relationship with Christ? Lord knows if we aren’t intentional about our own spiritual formation, over time, we sort of just glide and drift along, where eventually, we may find ourselves coasting right back on to the ground. Unfortunately for some, they may even crash land. O that we would have a Holy longing to continually risen up unto new life in Christ once again. We need others to gently pull us along. Be encouraged this week to be praying that the Lord would reveal to you a spiritual guide, a mentor, a soul friend, a shepherd, a seasoned Christ-follower whom you could trust to lead you higher and higher, closer and closer to Christ.
PRAYER
Lord Jesus, thank You for the privilege and the Holy responsibility to lead Your people. Remind me, O Lord, that You have first called me into a relationship with You. Reveal to me those person(s) in my own life whom I might be able to lean into for spiritual direction, guidance, wisdom and accountability. Thank You in advance for providing such persons in my life. Thank You for Your sustaining Spirit, Your abiding presence, and Your unconditional love for me. I humbly pray in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. – AMEN .
