SCRIPTURE:
4 Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord. - Ephesians 6:4
Train up a child in the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it. – Proverbs 22:6
THOUGHTS TO PONDER:
As the school year comes to a close, our boys will be home from college this summer, which means we will ALL be home. We are really looking forward to this summer. Partially as an approaching empty nester dealing with our little children growing up right in front of our eyes, but having preacher’s kids, I can only begin to imagine the impression we’ve left on them. Time flies way too fast, especially the older we get it seems. We love our kids and give God thanks for the blessed privilege and responsibility to raise them. With everyone being home for the summer, it’ll be yet another opportunity to love on one another like Jesus as best we can.
FOR FURTHER REFLECTION:
As clergy, Lord knows we get pulled in lots of different directions. And sometimes those things pull us away from spending time with our spouse and family. Whether you have been in ministry for less than a year or for over fifty years, the value of spending time with our families is priceless. As the summer is quickly approaching, spend time now thinking and planning ahead how you will invest in your marriage and family, and most importantly how you will invest in your relationship with Christ. Seize every moment this summer.
PRAYER:
Lord Jesus, Thank You for the call You’ve placed upon my life. And thank you for blessing me with a wonderful family. O God, help me to never take my family for granted. As You have called me to serve You O Lord, help me to balance my family time with the additional ways You would have me to serve You. Empower me to be who You would have me to be for my spouse, my family, and those You have entrusted unto my care. I love you Lord, and I thank You that You first loved me. In Jesus’ name – Amen
